Music Review
The Red Hot Chili Peppers released their eleventh album “The Getaway” June 17, 2016. As a long time follower and fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, I beamed with excitement when hearing about their upcoming album. However, when I listened to this new album disappointment overcame me.
The album doesn’t sound like the classic Red Hot Chili Peppers that we expected. “Dark Necessities” was the first single from the album. This song was the only one on the album that compared to the old school Red Hot Chili Peppers. One of their other songs, “Go Robot” delivers a very Daft Punk feel to it. Which unfortunately sounds completely different than what the Red Hot Chili Peppers produced before.
The drummer, Chad Smith, continues to play the same way that he did back in the 90’s. The same goes for the bass guitar player, Flea. In order to not die out, many artists have to keep renovating and reinventing themselves. As such, they often release different content than what they normally release. Although, I wish that the Red Hot Chili Peppers kept some of the old school vintage rock style that we love them for. Overall, this album is not bad, but it definitely does not compare to their past albums such as, “Californication”, “Stadium Arcadium” or even “I’m With You.”
